Challenge Week!

Happy Monday everyone!

It's time for another challenge week. If you're new to our challenge week, here's what you do. In the comment section below, leave yourself a goal for the week. It could be anything from organizing your junk drawer, to cleaning out your inbox, to washing your kitchen cabinets, to writing another three thousand words on your novel. Spend the next four days busily accomplishing your goal. Then check back in on Friday, and add another comment letting us know if you were successful. If you DID manage to accomplish that daunting, ugly task, then you'll be eligible to advertise on our blog. Last Challenge Week's winner was Andrea Strong. Do you see her lovely little blog advertisement over to your right? That could be your blog or other item of your interest being advertised for the next three months. So give yourself a goal this week an get busy accomplishing it.

My goal is to clean out the guest bedroom before my mom comes on Wednesday. The guest bedroom should be clean, since I'm rarely in there and I keep the door closed. However, my kids see that shut door and think beyond it's barrier lies a treasure of gold, or at least a cache of candy and toys. Then my dog, who KNOWS she's not allowed on furniture, has deemed the mattress her own personal doggie bed. Plus robbers must have sneaked into the house sometime during the last month and ransacked the linen closet, because its once-folded towels, neat sheets, and organized crayons now contribute to the mess covering the floor.

And can you believe it? My mom expects a clean place to sleep when she arrives Wednesday night. (Mothers can be so hard to please.) So I will be back on Friday, with nice picture of the clean guest room. What will you accomplish between now and then?

  1. I have two piles of junk that drive my husband CRAZY.

One in the kitchen on a small built-in cabinet
One in the living room surrounding my desk.

I also have a small pile of mending that needs done (small tears in seams, missing buttons, etc.).

That's my goal for the week...

Eliminate the husband-maddening junk and finish the mending.

Clock's ticking and I've got a lot of work ahead of me.

  2. My big goal is to get ready for our homeschool year to begin next week. I partially organized last week but need to finish up. I also need to get a book cover designed. Those two are my musts, along with getting as far as possible through the last 14 scenes in my novel. Ideally I'll hammer that home this week, but the other two have to happen first, so if I get 7 scenes done, I'll be happy. =)

  3. My challenge, like Roseanna's, is to get ready to hit our final year of homeschooling! I've been squirreling things around in my head, but I have to actually do the physical aspect yet of putting out the books and writing up the plans.I also go back to work this week part time at an elementary school. LIFE ADJUSTMENT! In between, I want to get some blog posts and promos lined up as the 2nd book in my Empire in Pine series: "THE RED FURY" releases from Desert Breeze in October.

  5. Wow, it sounds like we're a busy bunch this week. In another year or two, I'll have to add my homeschooling goals to the mix!

Okay, I'm off to clean that guest bedroom. Maybe I can be the first person to make my goal. :)

  6. Wow, brave Naomi putting up a picture of her actual mess...you will not see me doing that anytime in the near or far future! :)

    Lots of editing going on.

And school, starting my first year of school with the 5 year old. She is a kinesthetic/spatial girl which is my total opposite, will see how I'll adjust to teaching to her that way, but glad to be doing it at home instead of a classroom!

Can't wait to put up the next winner, so ladies, get 'er done!

  7. LOL, Melissa! My hubby got a terrified look on his face when he realized what I was doing with the picture of our guest room. I only posted it because I'll have a "clean room" picture for Friday's post. And since Mom's coming in two days, I don't have a choice about meeting my challenge. :)

  8. My goal for this week is to get my ironing done and to write at least 4000 more words on my WIP. And I know about mothers being hard to please ;) I decided to be on time to an appointment today instead of putting the lunch dishes in the dishwasher. As I drove away, I remembered my mom is picking up the kids from school and bringing them home. GULP! Dare I hope she'll put the dishes in there??

  9. I'm blessed with a mom who is easy to please since her house looks just like mine. Its very likely if she found my sink full of dirty dishes, she would put them in the dishwasher.

It looks like several entrants this week. I was kinda hoping for another easy win. ;)

  10. I'm cleaning the house for my inlaws and working on a book proposal. I'm also praying for more hours this week...:) Perhaps the sun will stand still?

  11. I'm getting ready to put this house on the market! We'll see if it is ready to show AND sell by Friday! :)

  12. I have been transforming a pdf novel, into proper form in Word, line by line, for 120 pages. Ugh! This week, I vow to finish!!! :)

  13. Impressive goals, ladies! My goal is to finish an article for Christian Post, transcribe two interviews (my least favorite job), and make around 40 phone calls relating to my volunteer position as community pool membership co-chair. Those are the must-do tasks--if I'm particularly productive, I might just get some writing done on my WIP....

  14. I have to measure a wall in my office and see if some hand me down office furniture will fit. How's that?

  15. Wow, keep all the goals coming, ladies! Sounds like everyone has a lot to accomplish. Just remember to check back in and let us know, mission accomplished at the end of the week.

Liz, I so understand your Mom dilemma. Hopefully she didn't say anything about those dirty dishes. :)

  16. I'm working on my desk. I'm in between books, which is when I get ready for the next long haul...but I'm also doing critiques and decluttering my book closet, so I have too many irons in the fire.

My goal is to get focused and finish one project at a time--with my desk neat and clean by Friday.

I have a sudden desire to go bake a cake....
